Persuant to the sources of various scientists and scholars, the Universe as we know it is expanding. According to these individuals, this is happening because of something known as "dark energy" that repulses gravity in an endless tug of war that pulls our Universe into expansion at an increasing acceleration. Now, I am not one to begrudge our scientific brethren their equations and observations, for much of the content in this Library may one day be explained to the standards of their "science," just as evolution was once unexplained and gravity was once magic. I will, however, introduce to you a variable that the uninitiated have not considered, as they do not know about it.
At the center of the Earth, there is a Spider.
This is not a particularly assuming Spider; does not have the defining features of the Widow or the large size of the Wolf. She is a simple black in color, although in certain lights, one might say that some of the hair on her legs appears a very appealing shade of blue. She is not particularly small, but neither is she very large. She is simply a spider. At the center of the Earth is a sprawling nest of gold (blue?) strands, interconnected and woven into a masterpiece any spider would be proud of.
However, the notable thing about this particular Spider is not necessarily that she is in the center of the Earth. Rather, it is that she often travels outside of her nest to the rest of her web. Slowly but surely, the determined thing scitters and crawls over blue (or is it silver…) strands into the vast expanses of the cosmos. She waves her little legs at the Sun. Wiggles her abdomen at Saturn. Travels resolutely past Pluto (They had a bit of an argument last century and both are too stubborn to apologize as of yet). At this point, you may be wondering how such a small Spider would be able to travel the Universe so quickly. Many others have asked the same question, and many more will continue to ponder. My personal theory is the the Spider is not really a spider at all. Regardless, perhaps this magical phenomenon will be scientific one day, perhaps it won't, it's not important. What is important right now, is that the Spider has reached the outskirts of our Galaxy and has decided to take a quick break to knit what appears to be a parachute with silverblackbluePu$pl%**> silk. And then she continues on.
The Spider continues until she reaches a portion of her web in what appears to be empty space. She scitters around in a circle for a bit, seemingly pondering something before jumping
off
her
web.
Only to land delicately (she did have a parachute after all) on another portion lower down in the astral plane and continuing on. I imagine that our Spider has many adventures (by our standards) while she travels her web, but that for her they are but commonplace. Not much can surprise you when you are a Spider of such status as she. Eventually, far far away from us, the Spider reaches the end of her web. There are no stars here. Not yet. No planets, or nebulae, or black holes, or supernovae, or comets, or galaxies or—
There is only the Spider. There is only the Web.
Our Spider is not at all disturbed by the existence of nothing. She calmly takes up the &(-=$#@&_+E*(Y &@)$)@!_ beautifully-colored silk and begins her weaving anew.
